Girls There is a large selection of Moulin Rouge and Can-Can costumes on eBay ranging in price from about $30 to $50 dollars. They are also available in limited quantity from the new costume shop by Winn Dixie (where FYE used to be). Color selection is left up to the dancer's discretion however the main color scheme for the float will be Red and Gold (Moulin Rouge colors), so any colors other than that will stand out more. Dresses should have full "petticoats" that can be "swooshed" up in the air just like real Moulin Rouge dancers. Girls are encouraged to modify these costumes and make them your own. In the movie, each dancer has her own theme. Girls should look like a Moulin Rouge dancer yet maintain a unique sense of culture, ethnicity and "fetish" of their own. |

Guys Since black tuxedos are so plain, they will be offset with bright colored boxer shorts. The brighter and more ridiculous the better!!! There is a bunch of "ridiculous" boxer shorts on eBay for about $12. (Seriously, google "ridiculous boxers shorts" and see what pops up). Also try www.WebUndies.com |

Boxer shorts can be slightly oversized for a more comedic effect.
Guys, if you feel a bit insecure about wearing boxer shorts in public, you may want to also wear a pair of swim trunks or bike shorts underneath since we will be so sexy girls will want to steal our underwear! :-) |

See movie screen shots from the movie Moulin Rouge to get an idea of the kind of costumes we are looking for Moulin Rouge screen shots CRUNCH TIME Begin work on your costumes early. The parade is only a few short weeks away. We recommend everyone have their costumes finished, tested and ready to wear 1 week before the parade. This gives everyone plenty of time to fix anything that goes wrong, breaks, needs to be mail ordered or replaced. Again, continuity, having a consistent theme and the correct matching costumes for all crew members is crucial to the success of a float. If you are unable to find or make a costume of your own, please contact us so that we may assist you with your costume. Guys, if you bring us an expendable "Black Suit Jacket" we can do the "Suit to Tuxedo" conversion for you. We are also planning a special presentation to be performed by the guys at the Media area and the Judges Stand. If any of the Gents would like to volunteer to be "Special Performers" please contact us in advance so that we can arrange a meeting and rehearsal. |
