Having NOT being responsible for a float this year gave us ample time to relax and actually ENJOY the Fantasy Fest week without any stress, tribulation or outright hysteria.

Plus the fact that we entertained out of town guests and family, it was a wonderful experience.

For the Zombie Bicycle Ride and the Masquerade March, we decided to do the Evil Purple Minions from the movie "Despicable Me 2". This was actually Beth Moyes’ idea, but when we caught wind of it through our drivers, Justin and Hannah, we decided to join in. However we opted out of the $100 dollar head pieces, and just did our own simpler more cost effective version.

A simple 5 piece costume from 5 different sellers on eBay, for an average of about $10 dollars per piece. A total of $50 per costume.

Neon purple wig $10.00

#1 silver goggles $9.00

Long sleeve purple shirt $8.00

Black denim overalls $18.00

Black cotton parade gloves $5.00

We also made our own foam rubber battle axes, a Jelly Gun, and Kyle the dog.

For the Headdress Ball, Rochelle did the White Dragon from the TV series Game of Thrones.

Over 2400 hand cut WORBLA scales are placed onto 20 pieces of body armor, then painted luminescent white, with a final coat of MOD PODGE. Dragon eyes are magnifying glass lenses colored with paint applied/streaked with sewing pins.

Rochelle’s Game of Thrones “White Dragon” woo's the crowd at the Key West Fantasy Fest Headdress Ball 2018.
