NIGHTRAIDERS
My first XNA Lara, “Nighthawks”, the classic 1942 Edward Hopper masterpiece, a study in loneliness and isolation in the modern era. This painting has been the subject of numerous parodies, everything from The Simpsons to a Lego Nighthawks has been made using this famous scene. Now Lara, Zip and Alister stop in for a late night cup of coffee after a hard day’s Tomb Raiding. Natla of course is moonlighting to make ends meet. The gas canisters are from TR Legend.

THRALL POT PIE
Lara on her day off at the supermarket. This is an homage to a scene from a Andrew Niccol movie about another media icon who doesn't actually exist. This "place" is actually a bonus feature only available to those who are willing to wait, and will probably be unrecognized by all but the most celebrity crazed.

SHARK SURFING
Lara on vacation. This is my favorite depiction of Lara - allowed to be a kid again, care free, enjoying herself on a beach somewhere without having to worry about finding a treasure, unlocking some deep and hidden mystery or defending herself against a gang of thugs, zombies or monsters. Just a bottle of sun block, a cold Corona and lime, and some wrangled sharks to play on. In this shot, the scene almost feels like a vacation photo. Lara is caught in a candid state of play. The observer feels almost as if they are a friend or family member standing on the beach with a camera in hand, waving Lara on.

This is one of my favorite pieces. Poor Alister, surrounded and accosted by temptresses, each looking exactly like Lara. As if paying attention at work isn’t hard enough, he must also endure their torments even when trying to keep his mind off the job. Are they real, or only a figment of his imabsinthation?

This was made in lieu of the not terribly popular ending that awaited the unsuspecting public at the conclusion of Tomb Raider Underworld. As an
alternate ending,
this was the picture so many had actually hoped and waited for.

SLUMBER PARTY
I love this piece. Lara and the girls in their off camera hours. NO BOYS ALLOWED (except Winston of course). I was going to have Alister and Zip peeking around the corner, but decided they would not have gotten even that far before being detected by Natla’s heightened sense of gaydar.
Lara watches TV while eating an entire bowl of popcorn all to herself. Normally she would not be seen in public eating so much as an after dinner mint. The always cosmetic conscious Natla sits getting her hair did while receiving a pedicure from her indentured personal assistant (some would say “slave” – what’s the difference) Dopplewhoe. Amanda, boy crazy and oblivious to all, is far too busy gabbing on her cell phone to notice she exceeded all of her roll over minutes 3 days ago.
